Summertime Joy is a bi‑annual ecosystem that provides direct financial support to Black single mothers during the summer months.
Months when school is out, costs increase, and care becomes more precarious.
Summer is often framed as a season of freedom and fun for children.
But for Black single mothers, summer can also be one of the most financially and logistically challenging times of the year.
When school ends, a critical support system disappears.
Daily structure, supervision, meals, and childcare are no longer guaranteed, and the cost of replacing those systems falls almost entirely on mothers.
Summertime Joy exists to help create a buffer during these months.
Through this ecosystem, Loving Black Single Mothers moves money directly to Black single mothers so they can decide what summer support looks like for their families.
That might mean summer camp.
It might mean daycare.
It might mean amusement parks, swim lessons, art classes, field trips, or simply the ability to say yes to joy without financial panic.
We trust mothers to know what their children need.
For many Black single mothers—especially those raising multiple children—the added costs of summer make joy feel conditional and out of reach.
Summertime Joy helps shoulder some of that weight, so mothers are not left managing summer alone.
